Gather

Ingredients

  • 3 cups chopped or ground pears (about 2 lb)
  • 1 large orange, peeled, seeded, and chopped
  • ¾ cup drained crushed pineapple
  • ¼ cup chopped maraschino cherries (about one 3-oz bottle)
  • ¼ cup bottled lemon juice
  • 1 package powdered pectin
  • 5 cups sugar

Preserve

Instructions

  1. 01

Pre-sterilize jars. Wash, peel, core, and chop pears; peel, seed, and chop the orange pulp.

  2. 02

Combine measured pears, orange, pineapple, cherries, lemon juice, and pectin. Bring quickly to a full boil, stirring constantly.

  3. 03

Add sugar, return to a full bubbling boil, and boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly.

  4. 04

Take the pot off the heat and skim away the foam. Ladle the jam into hot, sterile jars, allowing ¼-inch headspace; clean the rims and attach the lids.

  5. 05

In a boiling-water canner, process half-pints or pints for 5 minutes (base time).
