Ingredients

  • 9 cups crushed berries
  • 6 cups granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. 01

    Pre-sterilize canning jars and keep them hot.

  2. 02

    Wash berries before crushing. Measure 9 cups crushed fruit into a preserving pot.

  3. 03

    Add sugar and bring slowly to a boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.

  4. 04

    Boil briskly, stopping at or just before the jellying point according to how firm you want the jam.

  5. 05

    Stir frequently as the mixture thickens to prevent sticking.

  6. 06

    Remove from heat. Fill hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Wipe rims and apply lids and bands.

  7. 07

    Use the tested boiling-water process: 5 minutes (base time).
